Arazi is a rural settlement project situated on the hills of Bademli Village, west of Assos, in Ayvacık, Çanakkale. Developed by five high school friends on their shared land, the project consists of a main building, a recording studio, bungalows, a camping area, and an event space. The layout adapts to the natural topography of the land, connecting three main zones to the entrance via a central pathway. The main building, located at the highest point, is designed for both private and communal use, featuring a stone and reinforced concrete base with a lightweight timber upper floor.
The project's structural system combines different materials to aesthetically achieve its architectural goals. Materials such as reinforced concrete, structural timber, and structural steel are carefully used in different parts of the building. For instance, the bungalows are elevated on steel legs to protect the trees and maximize the view. The recording studio also functions as a semi-open bar, connecting the central path to the event area, which has a sea view, and to the lower camping area. Arazi blends local materials like stone, wood, and reeds with modern construction systems, aiming for a sustainable and environmentally conscious design. This integrated approach allows the site to transform into a meeting place that is fully integrated with nature through events like concerts, workshops, and festivals.
