This project, which aims to renovate and reopen the Sabiha Gökçen Airport T1 Terminal, has preserved the existing structure that has been idle since the early 2000s while increasing its functionality with modern additions. During the design phase, a balance between aesthetics and functionality was achieved by using durable and easily applicable materials like stainless steel, wood, and LVT flooring, which harmonize with the existing texture. The project, divided into three phases, involved strengthening the existing structural support system and designing new passenger entry and exit points along with modern office spaces for airport staff. To accommodate increased passenger capacities, a connection between the T1 and T2 buildings was established, creating a safer and more functional aviation hub that exceeds international standards.

Environmental sustainability and energy efficiency were core objectives of the project. To achieve this, all of the building's mechanical and electrical systems were dismantled and replaced with eco-friendly and high-efficiency equipment. All exterior window frames and roof skylights were covered with state-of-the-art window films to minimize the building's energy costs and significantly reduce its carbon footprint. All architectural materials, including additions, ventilation and fire lines, and electrical and energy systems, were chosen from sustainable materials and equipment.

This holistic approach was designed to improve both the passenger experience and operational efficiency of the terminal. By minimizing energy and operational costs, the project successfully delivered a high-quality building that aligns with the new vision of Sabiha Gökçen Airport and is prepared for future needs.
