The Alaçatı Fishing Port, originally established in the 1990s and moved to its current location in the early 2000s, was allocated to the Fishing Cooperative in April 2024. Despite its vital function, the area lacked hygienic storage for fish and designated spaces for fishermen to prepare and socialize, or for commercial businesses and the public to interact. This project, prepared with the cooperative's own resources, aims to re-plan the area with a contemporary approach, transforming it into a modern fishing hub. A key criterion for this transformation is to preserve the area's public character.

The main design elements, the fishermen's café and the fish auction area, are separated by a courtyard featuring an olive tree, a symbol of the Aegean. This layout not only connects the functional spaces but also creates a natural and inviting atmosphere. The structural design was meticulously planned by considering the region's unique characteristics, with a focus on factors like soil conditions and groundwater levels during the foundation system's design. The entire structural system was crafted from structural steel to be both aesthetic and functional, aligning with the architectural goals. Thanks to this approach, the project maximizes the use of natural ventilation and shading, providing an efficient and elegant solution for the modern needs of the fishing port.
